It all started in 2009, my friend told me to set up my first pc. I started low. Learned how an operating system (OS) works and understood its behavior, installed (or uninstalled) application software, created my home network and utilized the internet. Then came hypertext markup language and creating static websites. It’s like going to school but it’s not. I am learning it from a legend’s guidance. So came the birth of my new passion: computer programming.
From 2010 to 2012, I learned from the best. How to do it best, what are the best tools to use and the feel in doing it. I tasted different Linux flavors for my OS, which is much faster than the evil empire. I learned to install application software, including setting up my first local servers (PHP and MySQL), using the black screen. Then came WordPress, a content management system based on PHP & MySQL.
Learning all these opened my eyes on free and open source software (FOSS) which is like propriety software in terms of quality. I did not realize that I am already using FOSS especially when I shifted my OS to Ubuntu.
From 2013 to 2015 I continued my passion. 2016 when I decided to work for it and get it accomplished. Because we are in a document-based system, I attended sessions and training and took eligibility examinations. Experience is the greatest tool that I have. I’m still working for it and at the same time doing what I love.
